  • Week 1 & 2: Rock & Roll
Skill of Focus: Arm Placement & Different Types of Rolls
This week our intention is arm placement in different styles of rolls. We will rock out with our arm placements.

  • Week 3 & 4: Monkey Week
    Skill of Focus: Grip Strength
This week we are all about money swings, holds, and most importantly grip strength on bars. The gymnast will be squeezing things, rolling things up and holding on hight to the bars in an effort to build up that grip strength. Young children are proportionally very top heavy, which can make supporting their own body weight a challenge, especially on bars. This is why we are focusing on stations that promote strength rather than supporting their whole body weight.

  • Week 5 & 6: Wobbly Week
    Skill of Focus: Balance
This week is all about creating wobbly challenges for gymnasts. It’s a great way to practice practical balance skills, motor planning and keeps preschool beam FUN! Wobbly week includes a ton of engaging balancing beam station ideas infused with preschool magic. Think about the different surfaces we have on the bus. Squishy mats, soft foam blocks, smooth bars, and hard beams. We hit them all in this lesson plan! Wobbly week I about working balancing skills, but also exploring the textures in the bus.

  • Week 7 & 8: Swamp Stomp Week
Skill of Focus: Skill Building in the Swamp
Teaching Intention: Skill Builder- Creepy crawlies, gators, lily pads, and snakes! This week is full of imagination and powerful movement for preschoolers. This is a skill builder plan, which means it is built for repetition of skills preschoolers have already learned.
